Address Approval
LADBS requires a formal Address Approval for any new ADU so the unit has its own assigned address on file — this is needed before permits can be issued, and for emergency response, mail delivery, and utility hookups.
Sewer Facilities Charge
The City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering charges a Sewer Facilities Charge on any new dwelling unit that adds load to the public sewer system. It's a one-time fee tied to the ADU's added capacity, separate from standard permit fees.
Roof & Yard Drainage to Street
LADBS requires roof and yard drainage to be directed to the street or an approved drainage course, rather than onto neighboring lots, to prevent runoff issues and drainage disputes between properties.
LAUSD School Facilities Fee
Since this ADU is over 500 sq ft in a Los Angeles (LADBS) jurisdiction, a Los Angeles Unified School District facilities fee of $5.38 per square foot applies. This fee must be paid to LAUSD at the time of permit issuance.
